Politics and My mother

posted by moonlightmadness

My mother dreams of a black and white world. We all have heard of it somtime or another you know the one. The “Perfect” Place where no one is cold, or hungery. In order to achieve help she turns to her bible and prayers instead of the real world. I am not saying that god doesn’t answer prayers but isn’t it true he gave us minds for a reason. I am sick and tired of her telling me to just pray. PRAYING DOESN’T HELP THE WORLD! It does not stop the ecnonomy from crashing, it does not help find a cure for cancer, it can’t help anyone. Prayer alone isn’t worth anything. ACTIONS! are. My mother doesn’t get that. She thinks God will just create mircles while the truth is are minds alone are gifts. If only people learn to use them. She qoutes almost every poloticin or reporter she has herd and the bible yet has no comprehension of either. being led by blind faith? Is good for what? Nothing. Actions speak louder than words. Not waiting for a miricle.

Vote McCain

posted by partyonthemoon

With the presidential election nearing, the pressure has been raised on Americans to pick their next president for the next four years. Do we want a democrat? Do we want a republican? So many questions on both candidates, but I believe that only one will get the job done right for the next 4 years, or even beyond that.
The topic that keeps coming up over and over on McCain verses Obama has to do with who has more experience in the world. It is undeniable that McCain has much more world experience over all. American needs someone who knows what he’s talking about and knows what it’s like out there, verses someone who talks the talk but has never walked the walk.
McCain has been in war, nearly losing his life, defending our nation. That shows that country does come first in his book, and that’s the way it should be.
McCain has much greater points than Senator Obama does on many topics. His plan to lower illegal immigration in the United States, which causes tax-payers millions of dollars each year, his plan for a greener, cleaner country and world, and much more.
The war in Iraq is a topic that never seems to go away.
The thing that so many people do not understand is that the troops have chosen to defend this country. It is not like the government walks around knocking on people’s doors, telling them they are on the next plane to Afghanistan tomorrow morning. It is no one’s choice but their own on if they sign the papers saying that you’re joining the service. They have decided to defend this country, and no one made that choice for them. What is made for them is where they go, when they do it, and how they do it. That does not mean that the government forces you to join the service.
If we pull the troops out of Iraq and Afghanistan, as Obama proposes, then we will look very weak towards other countries and appear as an easy target. It will be a mess trying to pull all the troops out, and if we came to Iraq and Afghanistan planning to get the job done, then we need to stay until we get the job done. Our country does not need to be full of lies promising things that aren’t going to happen. We were promised that we would get it done in Iraq and Afghanistan, and we will do just that. America does not need to look weak at this time, especially during this economic crisis. We are a huge target now with the economy slowly declining. Although this is being felt all over the world, it is effecting us greatly.
The economic crisis is of course a problem that has come up suddenly and recently, and Americans want answers from our candidates. Americans do not want someone in office who will do nothing about this, and sit back watching it all fall apart. They need someone who will do something about it.
President Bush has started working on fixing the crisis, but he will be in office for only a mere less than four more months. One of our candidates needs a successful plan as to fix this. I believe that McCain has the best plan as to fixing this problem.
True, we have had a republican in office for the past eight years, and it has been a good eight years. Yes, there were the ups and downs, but it was over-all great. If we suddenly change from a republican in office to a democrat, things could change fast and for the worst.

“You are the instruments that God is going to use to bring about universal change, and that is why Barack has captured the youth. And he has involved young people in a political process that they didn’t care anything about. That’s a sign. When the Messiah speaks, the youth will hear, and the Messiah is absolutely speaking.”

This is what Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan said of Barack Hussein Obama at a large gathering of thousands of islamic youth. Pre-election the two were said to be good friends, before Obama distanced himself considerably.

Now I think one might be able to overlook one irresponsible association. But he has been associated with a) domestic terrorist Bill Ayers, b) racial extremist Jeremiah Wright (read here), and c) partisan group ACORN, who have committed voter fraud countlessly in the recent election, registering over 300,000 illegal voters, which he has distanced himself from recently as well, and many more, including Tony Rezco, the now indicted political fundraiser who enlarged Obama’s campaign account. The two also purchased adjoining homes in Kenwood.
“I consider this a mistake on my part and I regret it,” Obama told the Chicago Sun-Times. read the full article

Also, complete list of his shady associations can be found here.

In his first major public address since a cancer crisis, Nation of Islam Minister Louis Farrakhan said that presidential candidate Barack Obama is the “hope of the entire world” that the U.S. will change for the better. The 74-year-old Farrakhan, former leader of the black Muslim group, never endorsed Obama outright, but spent much of his nearly two-hour speech Sunday to an estimated crowd of 20,000 people praising the Illinois senator.

Now, on the subject of Bill Ayers, we know that he held campaign gatherings in his home and served on a committee in which Ayers employed him to distribute two million dollars. At first Obama stated that Ayers was simply, “someone in the neighborhood”. Not long after this he claimed that he “didn’t know anything about Ayers’ terrorist background”. He finally stated a day or two ago that he thought that Ayers had been “rehabilitated”.

Doesn’t this sound shady? Can’t someone running for president distance himself from all those who he formerly knew as friends for the sake of an election, and still have a hidden agenda? Look, I’m not telling anyone how to vote, but I’m entreating people to open their eyes and stop worrying about their pocketbooks for a second. Sure, Obama’s plan sounds great, but anyone can come up with a plan and promise it to the people, for the sake of winning an election. The truth is, countless economical analysts have stated that Obama’s economic policies are strictly impossible to fund. They would mean billions of dollars in government spending, which has gotten us into the economic downturn we are in today. “He’s for the middle class!” they say. Do you always believe what you hear? He does say that he will provide tax cuts for the middle class, but look at it this way, California and many other states have just recently had to entreat the government for money because their tax money couldn’t cover their state expenses! Their isn’t enough tax money to fund our government’s out of control spending. So Obama is going to cut taxes and increase government spending? I don’t think so!

By the way, I know many people are agaisnt the war, but if you remember, when September 11th happened, you couldn’t keep Americans out of Iraq! And nobody would have dared elect Barack Obama after he had been associated with Louis Farrakhan back then! Stop worrying about the economy, people. It will right itself. It always has. In fact, a couple dozen banks failed in the last two weeks. Over 800 banks failed in 1992! We’ll be ok, and all the analysts say so. For the long haul, the stock market will be fine and run smoothly again. The only way you’re going to lose money is if you take it out now.

When Jeremiah Wright exclaimed, “God damn America!”, Obama didn’t leave. He stayed for 20 years.

Think about this: If you were a friend of Obama, and he distanced himself from you just to win an election, wouldn’t you be angry? Woulnd’t you denounce him? You would, unless there were a reason you wanted him to win. Unless you knew why he did it, and accepted it, because you knew your cause would be repaid when he was in office. Does it not frighten you that he could honestly have been close friends with these unpatriotic, America-hating people? And that he might still be?

Think about the character of the candidate who is about to run our country, not what he promises. Because what Barack Obama promises is impossible, and there’s no limit to what he could do if he won the election. Do you think he would distance himself from those people then? No! Because he would have already won. Hitler rose to power in exactly the same way. Don’t think it couldn’t happen in America. And don’t think it wouldn’t happen with Barack Obama.

The U.S. Senate is likely going to see some changes. With long-serving members Pete Domenici (R-NM) and John Warner (R-VA) retiring, as well as the recent illnesses of Ted Kennedy (D-MA) and Robert Byrd (D-WV), some of the Senate’s traditional voices may be replaced with younger ones. Note: Kennedy and Byrd are both holding their seats.

Now with yesterday’s indictment of Ted Stevens (R-Alaska), another recognizable member may lose his reign in the Senate. He is currently in his 7th term as a Senator and is up for re-election in November. But first, he must triumph in the Republican primary on Aug. 26, where he is battling five opponents to hold his seat.

Other retiring senators include Wayne Allard (R-CO), Larry Craig (R-ID), and Chuck Hagel (R-NE). Republicans must defend 23 seats this November, Democrats only 12.

The combination of older members — the majority of which Republican — retiring, and the youthful energy of change accompanying Senator Barack Obama’s presidential bid, it is possible that fresh voices may take over the nation’s capital come November.

What impact do you think these retirements will have on the makeup of the Senate? What about on the makeup of Washington?
